Even though we think of wool when we think of knitwear, this winter wardrobe staple can be made from all kinds of fibres. In knitting, threads are placed in stitches and intertwined. Depending on the knitting method and fibre, the results can be very different.
How does knitwear style work?
Knitwear can be uncomplicated or elegant, business or casual, trendy or fun (did someone say Christmas jumpers?). Fine knits with a high proportion of natural fibres can be worn next to the skin, while chunky knit styles are best worn as a second layer. Knitwear looks particularly good as a counterbalance to extra-soft fabrics such as silk, satin or viscose.
