Richard Bampfield, Master of Wine
Richard Bampfield is a highly regarded Master of Wine and our independent lead taster. Richard provides us with the tasting notes, ratings and gradings for every one of our renowned Wine Cellar collections. To be a Master of Wine is to hold an internationally recognised qualification of expertise. The title is granted by the Institute of Masters of Wine following a series of intense examinations.
You’ll notice a number ranging from 80-100 beside each of our Wine Tour bottles. These are our ‘Bampfield Points,’ given by Master of Wine, Richard Bampfield. Each number lets you know where your wine sits on the taste test, ranging from good right up to classic. So now it’s even easier to find a great tipple for any occasion – bottoms up!
