Thank you for using our Lidl Go App (hereafter referred to as ‘the App’) and your interest in our Privacy Notice.
The following notice will inform you about the nature and scope of the processing of your personal data within the App. Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) we are required to inform you about Lidl’s processing of your personal data. Personal data is information that identifies you or could identify you directly or indirectly. Your Personal Data is processed in compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
This notice should be read in conjunction with our Lidl Plus Privacy Notice available within the Lidl Plus App.
1. Information about Lidl
The Data Controller responsible for data processing within the App is Lidl Stiftung & Co. KG.
You can contact our Data Protection Officer at:
Lidl Stiftung & Co. KG
Data Protection Officer
Stiftsbergstraße 1, 74167 Neckarsulm, Germany
This Privacy Notice will be reviewed and updated to ensure we inform you about any changes to how your personal data is processed. The last amendment date is stated at the bottom of this notice.
2. What Personal Data do we process?
Your personal data is collected directly from you when you download and register your personal details with us. Your data is used as follows:
2.1 When you download the App:
2.2 When you create an account and log into the App:
In order to be able to use the App, you can use your Lidl Plus account details (simply log-in with your email address and password registered to that account) or you can create an account by providing your personal data as follows:
First and last name
Date of birth
You may also provide your gender and home address.
Once you have submitted this data, you will receive an SMS containing a code that you need to enter, to complete the registration process. You will be able to create a password for your account.
The App will continue to keep you logged in. If at any time you do log-out from the App, you can simply enter the email address and chosen password to log back in again.
2.3 When using the App:
When using the App, you need to select the Store you are using it in. Therefore, your geolocation data is collected so that, based on your location, the correct Lidl Store can be automatically selected. The Store’s products can then be loaded into the App and offered to you, ready to scan. Geolocation data is not stored by us.
If you have not previously enabled location services and do not wish to enable it for the App use, a Store can be selected from a list by using the town or postcode search function.
Your smartphone’s camera will need to be enabled to scan the items you want to buy in Store. If the smartphone’s camera function is not enabled the ‘scan’ button and function will not work and the App cannot be used.
As soon as you have scanned the item, it appears in a digital receipt in the App, which also shows the total shopping amount. Once you have finished shopping, a barcode is displayed on your smartphone, which must be scanned at the payment terminal to process the payment.
2.4 When linking the App to your Lidl Plus Account:
Your Lidl Plus account information can be used to log into Lidl Go. Your shopping transaction data i.e. the products you have purchased will be saved within your Lidl Plus account.
Coupons offered within the Lidl Plus app will be deducted at the point of payment if they have been activated beforehand within Lidl Plus.
2.5 When carrying out a re-scan:
To ensure that our Lidl Go functionality is working as it should, random scanning checks are performed. This may mean, on occasion our Self-service Checkout colleagues are required to check your scanned and packed items. Sometimes, items can be scanned multiple times or not scanned at all. If there is any discrepancy with the payment and product amount, a full re-scan check may be required.
Your Lidl Plus account will log a re-scan event and associated scanning behaviour. As use of the App continues effectively and random re-scans do not result in any adjustments to your shopping, it is likely that you will experience less re-scans.
Please note that due to the high value of some products a re-scan will be required by default.

We will use your information to provide you with access to our App on the basis of our legitimate interest to operate and present you with an effective and convenient shopping experience.
We will use your information to detect fraud and unlawful activities on the basis of our legitimate interest to conduct a lawful business and protect inventory loss.
