Only 50p

The cost of a token is just 50p, but you can use your token again and again when you shop with us.

Contactless Payments

You don’t need to worry about making sure you have coins, or asking a colleague at a till to give you change.

We’re a UK first!

We’re the first UK supermarket to offer this service to our customers, so shopping with us is even easier.

The cost of the trolley tokens is currently 50p.

No, the machine will only take contactless payment methods including: Google Pay, Apple Pay, Mastercard, Maestro, Visa and American Express. This can be paid using the forms of a watch, phone or card.

Our trolleys won’t change at all, so they’ll still accept £1 coins, too.

Yes, the trolley token device on the trolleys will remain unchanged, so £1 coins and external trolley tokens will work in the same way that they have before.

Please speak to the store management team for help.

There is not a hole on the tokens provided by the trolley token machine. This is following feedback from our customers, that many of these tokens need to be removed from keyrings to fit into position in the trolley and unlock the mechanism.

There won’t be a sanitising station directly next to the machine, but you can use the sanitiser station as you enter the store. The cleaning of the machine will be factored in to the two hour QFCSAC checks completed by members of store management.

No, the trolley token is not refundable but the token can be used on future visits to Lidl.

Unfortunately this isn’t a service we would be able to provide, and you would have to purchase a new trolley token.

The trolley token machine is active during your store’s trading hours.

There is no money stored in the machine, as the trolley token machine only accepts contactless payment methods.

The trolley token system is set up to charge 50p only per trolley token. If you have a payment query, please ask a member of store management in the relevant trial store, and if required, they can contact the system provider hotline on your behalf.
