During these challenging times, we all need to make sure we’re doing our bit to help keep ourselves and others safe. With this in mind, we’ve put together a few things to remember the next time you visit one of our Lidl stores.

Customer Information

Increased contactless payment limit - £100

We continue to ask you to pay safely using contactless whenever possible, and the limit has now increased from £45 to £100, helping you to continue to pay quickly and safely when you shop with us. 

Wearing a face covering in store

Our Customers 

Although no longer legally required in England, the government expects and recommends that people wear face coverings in crowded areas and we will have signage in place at store entrances reminding our customers of this.

Wearing a face covering in our stores is mandatory in Scotland and Wales in line with government regulations, to help keep everyone safe.

A member of security may remind customers of the requirement to wear a face covering in our stores in Scotland and Wales. However, we understand that some customers are exempt from doing so*.

Forgotten your mask? Don’t worry, these are available to pick up at the entrance of our stores, to then purchase at the till when you complete your shop.

A gentle reminder, when purchasing age-restricted products, you may be asked to temporarily remove your face covering by store colleagues to verify your age.

Our Colleagues 

Within England, we will enable colleagues to individually decide if they prefer to continue wearing a face covering or not and will continue to make these available for our colleagues.

Within Scotland and Wales, we continue to provide face coverings to our colleagues who will wear these when working on the shop floor, and where necessary when working behind a screen.

Exemption Lanyards

You’ll notice some of our colleagues on the shop floor who are exempt* from wearing a face covering will be wearing an exemption lanyard.

Checkout protection screens

We have cough and sneeze proof Perspex screens installed at each of our checkouts, to help protect both our store teams and you, our customers.

Trolley cleaning stations

You’ll notice we’ve put trolley and basket cleaning stations in place, along with antiviral disinfectant and hand sanitiser for sanitising your hands. We’d like to ask you to please clean your basket or trolley before you start your shop. This will help ensure we keep you and our team members as safe as we can.

Covid-19 symptoms

If you have any of the following symptoms, please do not visit our stores:

 

  1. New and continuous cough
  2. High temperature
  3. Loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell

Social distancing in store 

As per recent government announcements, social distancing restrictions have been removed in England however we ask customers to continue to be respectful of other customers and our colleagues who may continue to observe social distancing.

Within Scotland and Wales, we ask customers to continue to maintain social distancing and keep yourself a safe distance away from other customers and from our colleagues, including when queueing at our checkouts.

Where necessary, we may manage the volume of customers entering our stores at any one time to enable social distancing.

Wherever possible, try to shop alone to reduce the wait for other customers.
