To our valued Lidl customers

During these challenging times, we all need to make sure we’re doing our bit to help keep ourselves and others safe. With this in mind, we’ve put together a few things to remember the next time you visit one of our Lidl stores.

Keeping everyone safe

We’ve put a crowd control system in place to help manage social distancing in our stores. This includes positioning security guards or designated team members at our store entrances during busy times of the day, to keep track of how many customers enter our stores at one time.

Rest assured we are continuing to work closely with the government during these challenging times to ensure the correct measures are put in place in our stores, for the safety of both our team members and customers.

Busy store times

Traffic Lights

To help you plan your next store visit, we’ve put a traffic light system in place so you can find the quietest time to shop. Of course some stores will vary slightly, and make sure you check your local store opening hours too.

Customer Information

Wearing a face covering in store

Wearing a face covering in our stores is mandatory in Scotland and will be mandatory in England from 24 July, in line with government regulations. If you’re shopping in any of our stores in Wales, it is advised that you wear a face covering where it might be difficult to stay 2m away from others, to help keep everyone safe.

Exemptions apply, please click here for more information when shopping in Scotland, and here for more information when shopping in England.

Changes to our bakery

Whilst we always urge customers to use the tongs provided in our bakery, as a temporary measure, you’ll also notice there are disposable gloves for you to use in order to bag loose items yourself, safely. In addition to this, our teams are continuing to pre-bag a selection of loose bakery items for you. We're continuing to monitor this area of our store, and will change the way we’re doing things if necessary.

Contactless Payment

Increased contactless payment limit – now £45

We’ve increased the contactless payment limit in all of our stores, from £30 to £45.

Please pay safely using contactless whenever possible, or card payments for transactions over £45 .

Checkout protection screens

You might notice something a little bit different the next time you’re shopping in one of our Lidl stores. We’re currently installing cough and sneeze proof screens at each of our checkouts, to help protect both our store teams and you, our customers.

Protective visors

The next time you visit us in store, you’ll notice some of our team members wearing protective visors. This is to keep both our teams and you, our customers safe throughout the day.

Hand washing

Wash your hands

Wash your hands often and avoid contact with your eyes, nose and mouth.

Trolley cleaning station

Trolley cleaning stations

The next time you shop with us, you’ll notice we’ve put trolley and basket cleaning stations in place. We’d like to ask you to please clean your basket or trolley before you start your shop, and again before you leave. This will help ensure we keep you, our customers and our team members as safe as we can.

Our stores are replenished every day

Our stores are being replenished every day. That item you want to buy ‘just in case’, might be essential for someone more vulnerable who can’t visit the store multiple times.

Supporting those who need a helping hand

We are committed to providing a safe and positive shopping experience for all, and understand that certain measures we currently have in place to support social distancing may present challenges for some of our customers.

We pride ourselves on forming close connections with you, our customers, and our store teams regularly provide additional support for individuals that we serve on a regular basis.

Should you require any extra assistance, the following support is available:

- An assistance bell is located at the entrance of stores, and a member of the team will provide further assistance when the bell is rung.

- If there is a queue at the entrance of the store and you have difficulty queuing, make yourself known to the security guard or member of the team at the front who will give you priority entry.

- Our teams will take the opportunity to explain any changes that have taken place in store and ensure that you are aware of new facilities such as our cleaning station, providing support where required.

- We have communication materials around the store in large font, detailing changes in place, and we have introduced customer information audio announcements, which include social distancing awareness.

- Whilst we are encouraging customers to shop on their own where possible, if you require assistance with your shopping you may be accompanied by someone that can support you. This also applies to single parent families and their children.

- If you are unable to complete your shopping whilst adhering to the social distancing measures we have in place, a member of the team will safely support you in doing so.

- If you require any further assistance, please speak directly to a member of the team who will be happy to help.

a little kindness goes a long way

Be nice to other customers and store teams – after all, we’re together in this. A little kindness goes a long way during these difficult times.
