Lidl climbs up The Times 100 table

Lidl Supermarket - Lidl climbs up The Times 100 table

 April 2012

Lidl have risen 6 places in the prestigious Times 100 Graduate Employers’ rankings for 2012, which was voted for by 17,737 final year students and announced by High Flyers’ Research on Tuesday 27th March.

Taking their position to 32nd out of the top 100, Lidl have exceeded their previous spot of 38th in 2011, and of 54th in 2010, and of 89th in 2009. This great leap forward is an encouraging step for the graduate scheme, which offers a number of opportunities for graduates from Area Managers, to Trainee Buyers with the possibility of overseas travel.

The Times 100 Graduate Employers announcement comes as an exciting result for Lidl, placing them above 3 of the big 4 supermarkets in the UK, according to the student survey.

The survey also revealed interesting insights into the current graduate climate:

• Little more than a quarter of UK finalists are able to speak a second language – the most common languages being French, Spanish or German.

• Over a third of students had used Facebook and a fifth had used LinkedIn for graduate job hunting purposes this year.

• The average debt for students in 2012 is £19,400.

• Expected graduate starting salaries’ have stalled at an average of £22,600, the same level that was recorded in the 2011 survey.

The Lidl graduate scheme offers a starting salary of £33,000 per annum. If you would like to apply or request more information on this, please visit the Careers section of the website.
